Orosi Valley- great for a quiet weekend away from the city

About an hour from San José and a stone’s throw from Cartago lies the picturesque Orosi Valley, a perfect destination for a quiet weekend away. Orosi is a sleepy community little touched by tourism where you will find the oldest church still in use in Costa Rica, the Iglesia de San José, built in 1743. Adjoining the church is the old colonial monastery which is now a small museum of religious art and artifacts. Surrounded by coffee plantations and nestled on the banks of the Reventazón River, Orosi offers hot springs, access to Tapanti National Park and white water rafting for the adventurous soul.
